Barndominium
What is a Barndominium?
A modular home is a prefabricated, or sometimes called pre-fab, home built in sections or modules in a factory setting and then transported to the home site for final assembly.
These aren't the cookie cutter, house-in-a-kit buildings of previous generations. Today's modular homes have as many options as most standard build homes, everything from floor layouts to vast kitchen and bathroom options.
Also modular homes have to abide by the same local, state, and regional building codes as traditional site-built homes, so that makes them a high-quality and versatile housing option that is perfect for people who like to personalize their home.

Barndominiums Are Full of Variety
Far from just owning a house that looks like a barn, "barndos" are full of flexibility and customization.
• Open floor plan: Barndominiums typically feature a very open floor plan that contains high walls and ceilings with tons of open living space, along with large windows and doors. When you think of the openness of a traditional barn, the center is free of spans and trusses, which means there's fewer, or even no, load baring walls in the center of the space. This is great for creating big living areas, open work areas, and a ton of flexibility. Not to mention tremendous use of natural light.
• Focus on the Outside: When a barndominium is being built, construction is, in a way, in reverse. The building's framework, roof, and the exterior walls are built first -before the inside walls are built. While this is the opposite of a traditional house build, the openness of the structure means that the exterior is the most important first step.
Which Is Right for You?
Barndominiums or "barndos are becoming extremely popular across all different parts of the United States. And now, with barndominiums being classified as modular homes, financing is easier than ever. Homeowners who planned on building a tiny house may actually be able to finance and build a barndominium while still staying within their dream budget.
